Phases

Diagnostic
The Diagnostic phase starts during the sales process and ends with an accepted proposal for the implementation project. The goal of the Diagnostic phase is to gather enough information in order to define the high level project scope and make a confident proposal for the remaining phases of the implementation. The major deliverable is the implementation proposal.
Analysis
The goal of the Analysis phase is to define and agree upon all the business requirements related to the new solution. The major deliverable is the comprehensive functional requirements document.
Design
The goal of the Design phase is to define how the business requirements will be implemented. It is primarily focused on designing and estimating the effort required for developing customizations that were identified during the gap-fit analysis. The major deliverable is high level and detailed design specifications.
Development
The goal of the Development phase is to create the customizations, reports, integrations and data migration processes that are defined and approved in the design specifications. The major deliverables are the tested and verified components and processes.
Deployment
The Deployment phase is where all the efforts of the implementation team come together for a successful transition to the new solution. The major deliverable is the configured and functioning production environment.
Operation
The goal of the Operation phase is to transition the customer from the implementation project into on-going support following a successful go-live. The major deliverable is confirmation of a satisfied customer who has all the information needed to make effective use of their new solution.
Optimization
The Optimization phase is often useful after the business system is in an operative mode for some weeks, but can also be conducted as often as needed and at any time later on to address specific needs for training, performance, configuration or business process optimization. The Optimization phase provides an opportunity to review the solution after it has been in operation for a while. It makes adjustments that improve the performance and usage of the business system, the productivity of the customer’s business processes or it gains experiences and knowledge of the individual user of the business system. The major deliverable is an optimized business system what supports perfectly the customer’s business processes.
Upgrade
The Upgrade phase supports the need of upgrading the business system to newer versions. Upgrading can be done in accordance to specific needs, e.g. need of specific functionality what is part of a new release, or to keep the business system generally up to date. The Upgrade phase performs a basic upgrade of the application and any related add-on products to a new release. The major deliverable is an upgraded production environment that the customer has been trained to take full advantage of.
For each implementation project a team is brought together to perform the activities that are involved with the sale, implementation, operation and maintenance of the solution. Each team member, or role, is accountable for representing the specific knowledge base and needs of its constituencies.
